An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and hands-on individual to join a growing automotive repair business as a Mobile SMART Repair Technician Assistant. This is a field-based role covering the West Midlands region, supporting an experienced technician, with full training provided to develop into a fully qualified SMART Repair Technician. This position would particularly suit someone based in Birmingham or North Birmingham due to travel and coverage requirements. The role would suit an individual with experience in tyre fitting, body repair, wheel refurbishment or general automotive work who is looking to build a long-term career within the automotive repair industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with on-site SMART (Small to Medium Area Repair Technology) repairs
- Supporting minor body repairs including bumper scuffs, scratches and paint correction
- Preparing vehicles for repair including masking, sanding, priming and polishing
- Assisting with alloy wheel refurbishment and diamond cutting
- Supporting CNC diamond cutting machine operation (training can be provided)
- Tyre changing and wheel services
- Maintaining tools, equipment and the mobile repair vehicle
- Delivering professional and high-quality customer service on client sites
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (must have - due to mobile nature of the role)
- Based within the West Midlands, ideally Birmingham / North Birmingham
- Strong practical ability and mechanical aptitude
- Good attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
Desirable Experience (training can be provided)
- Tyre changing
- Body repair or paint preparation
- SMART repair experience
- Alloy wheel refurbishment
- Diamond cutting
- CNC diamond cutting machine operation
