An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Herdsperson to join a progressive and forward-thinking 250-cow Holstein dairy unit. This role would suit someone passionate about dairy farming, herd health, and maintaining high standards within a modern commercial dairy business.
Responsibilities:
- Twice-a-day milking
- Maintaining high standards of hygiene and animal welfare
- Calving cows and monitoring cow and calf health
- Administering treatments, vaccinations, and routine herd tasks
- Assisting with herd management technology and monitoring systems
- Working independently and within a team environment
- Maintaining strong timekeeping and daily routine standards
Requirements:
- Previous dairy milking experience essential
- Good stockmanship and attention to detail
- Passion for working with dairy cows
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- AI and foot trimming experience preferred, although training can be provided
- Good communication and organisational skills
