An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Layer Farm Manager to join a progressive free-range egg production enterprise based in London. Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will support the day-to-day management of laying hen flocks, ensuring the highest standards of bird welfare, egg quality, production efficiency and biosecurity. This is a hands-on role offering a varied workload across flock management, egg production, staff supervision, customer engagement and wider farm operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining a productive and welfare-focused laying enterprise.
Responsibilities:
- Daily management of laying hen flocks
- Monitoring bird health, welfare and egg production performance
- Egg collection, grading, sorting and quality control
- Routine salmonella testing and record keeping
- Feeding, bedding and housing management
- Assisting with the movement and management of mobile laying units
- Farm vending machine stock management
- Delivering eggs and farm produce to local customers
- Production reporting and flock performance monitoring
- Supervising, training and supporting part-time staff
- Farm maintenance and general husbandry duties
