Talent Accountancy & Finance are recruiting a Finance Manager to join a fast growth business based in Manchester City Centre. This is a hands-on role taking responsibility for a small finance team, improving how things are done, and using the numbers to help the business make better decisions. If you like implementing structure and processes, asking why performance changes, and leading a small team in a fast-moving environment, this role will suit you well.
Location: Manchester City Centre (4 days office, 1 day WFH)
Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:
- Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring clear ownership of day-to-day tasks and priorities.
- Review existing finance processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement practical improvements to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.
- Analyse financial and operational performance across revenue, costs and key metrics.
- Report on and investigate month-on-month and year-on-year movements.
- Get involved in scoping and rollout of reporting and accounting systems, acting as the link between finance, operations, and external providers.
- Ensure reporting tools and outputs deliver clear, usable insight and are integrated into current BAU workflows.
- Oversee monthly month-end close, management accounts, and balance sheet integrity.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning.
- Act as a trusted finance partner to operational teams, bringing structure, consistency, and common sense to reporting and controls.
Qualifications:
- Qualified or finalist (ACCA / CIMA / ACA).
- Experience in a multi-site SME or fast-paced business.
- Desire to improve imperfect data and legacy processes.
- Strong Excel skills; Power BI or similar useful but not essential.
- Commercially curious - you naturally ask why.
- Strong people leader - calm, grounded, and able to lead without ego.
- Happy to be hands-on and improve things incrementally.
