Talbot House Children’s Charity is looking to appoint a term‑time, permanent Kitchen Manager. The successful candidate will lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the school kitchen, ensuring high‑quality, healthy meals for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Hands‑on food preparation and effective kitchen team leadership and management.
  • Maintain high standards of health and hygiene, food safety, and food service.
  • Implement successful processes, procedures and checking systems to monitor and maintain high‑quality food.
  • Manage ordering processes, ensuring accurate orders and sufficient food for the required number of covers each day.
  • Take ownership of the kitchen and menu planning, ensuring meals meet dietary, allergen and nutritional requirements while creating an engaging and positive experience for pupils.
  • Collaborate with children to gather their views on menu options, introduce theme days and be creative with food choices.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ experience as a kitchen manager, ideally within a school kitchen.
  • Level 2 certificate in Food Preparation or equivalent.
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate.

Employment Details:

  • Starting date: September 2026 (to be confirmed during interview).
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, 35 hours per week during term‑time, plus deep‑clean days.
  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience (includes term‑time working hours and 5.6 weeks holiday taken during school holiday periods).
