As a Smart Energy Analyst, you will be working on one of our Major Accounts in a dedicated team whose responsibility is to provide expertise on the security, privacy operational and technical aspects of smart meter devices, as defined in the Smart Energy Code – the rulebook for smart meters. In your role as an analyst in the team, you will primarily support the Technical and Operational work of the team. You will work with technical subject matter experts who oversee our Technical, Operational and Smart Metering Device sub-committees, working with them to ensure they run smoothly and are able to effectively discharge their duties on behalf of the Panel.

This includes the processing of submissions into the smart metering Central Products List (CPL) – which acts as the key register of eligible device models which can operate in GB. The role will also include supporting the team through the coordination of actions; liaising with a range of key stakeholders including the Data Communications Company (the central service provider managing the Smart Metering network), and SECCo our client company which oversees the management of the Smart Energy Code.

Responsibilities

  • Processing CPL submissions, and resolving any related customer queries;
  • Work with the SEC Governance team on meeting actions allocated to SPOT, ensuring that our actions are captured, that they are being progressed and identifying linked actions across committees.
  • Overseeing SPOT’s input into Issue Management and the work of the SCRIM;
  • Overseeing SPOT’s compilation of monthly KPI reporting;
  • SPOT website content ownership – ensuring products are up to date and reviewed when needed.
  • Supporting SECCo in DCC Programme Assurance – undertaking quarterly reviews of DCC programme delivery, reviewing whether agreed products have been provided, programme delivery status, and feeding this into the SECCo Head of Sub-Committee Management.
  • Building strong client relationships with our key stakeholders including sub-committee Chairs and committee members;
  • Drafting and or reviewing documents and meeting papers to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality;
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities in relation to the processes and products of the team with a focus on innovation;
  • Maintaining procedural documentation and work instruction manuals, and updating them as new requirements arise from SEC modifications and industry requests;
  • Undertaking other activities as required by SEC or the Independent SMDA Sub-committee Chair.
  • When required, support the SEC Governance Team in providing secretariat support to SEC industry meetings.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of the Smart Energy Code (SEC) and GB smart metering arrangements (essential);
  • Basic project management skills, be able to manage time and a varied workload, and be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, able to understand and communicate complex issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Passionate about delivering an exceptional service to stakeholders and have well-developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage upwards, downwards and influence peers;
  • Digitally competent and able to present information in its clearest format for the intended audience;
  • Strive for excellence in their work being methodical, diligent and paying attention to the detail;
  • Excellent planning and organisational abilities;
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing the client’s requirements;
  • University graduate or of graduate-calibre.
