Talan is hiring for a Mid Level KDB Developer to support a leading FX eTrading team with its ongoing evolution of its electronic FX technology platform. The eFX technology function is responsible for a suite of mission‑critical applications and services that underpin the firm’s electronic FX offering, servicing external clients, internal Sales teams, and multiple business units across the group. The platform provides connectivity to global markets and multi‑dealer venues, supports a single‑dealer trading platform, and delivers advanced pricing and trader tools across different asset classes.
As part of the firm’s strategy to enhance its electronic trading footprint, there is a strong focus on leveraging KDB+ to deliver advanced analytics including client behaviour and toxicity analysis, back‑testing and parameterisation of trading strategies, and real‑time generation of key technical indicators. The role sits within a highly collaborative team focused on pricing, risk management, and MIS‑style reporting for the FX electronic trading desk and wider sales organisation. The team operates with short feedback loops, frequent deliveries (often within hours or days), and direct interaction with key Front Office stakeholders. The position is in‑office 5 days per week and located in Central London.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with FX Front Office stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver analytics and solutions that support MIS reporting, pricing and trading algorithms, and ultimately drive P&L.
- Rapidly prototype and deliver solutions in a fast‑paced, agile environment with competing Front Office demands.
- Perform detailed analysis and manipulation of large‑scale, high‑frequency data sets in low‑latency environments.
- Provide technical design, architecture, and infrastructure expertise to support the continued expansion of the KDB+ platform.
- Contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle, including design documentation, functional specifications, development, unit testing, and component builds.
- Provide technical assistance and third‑line production support to internal KDB+ Production Support teams.
- Participate in software releases, which may occasionally take place outside of normal business hours or at weekends.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, estimation, and delivery tracking, providing regular status updates to project managers.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong, hands‑on experience with Q/KDB+, including the design, build, and management of large‑scale KDB+ environments.
- Good understanding of software delivery processes and methodologies.
- Solid working knowledge of UNIX/Linux operating systems.
