As an Energy & Utilities Partner, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing Talan's presence in the UK energy market. You will work closely with our existing specialist consulting team to unlock greater value from our strong technical foundations, expand into broader strategy and transformation advisory, and strengthen our position with senior stakeholders across the sector. You will also combine deep sector expertise with the ability to integrate digital, data, AI and cyber capabilities into differentiated client propositions. The role is accountable for driving strategic growth, securing major engagements, and shaping market‐leading offerings that respond to the evolving needs of utilities, investors, government and innovators.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of a UK Energy Consultancy growth strategy aligned to energy transition priorities (e.g. electrification, decarbonisation and flexibility), whilst enabling a pivot in focus towards conventional energy – including power networks, metering, and broader energy sector assignments.
- Build and scale a sustainable consulting practice with clear revenue, margin and pipeline ownership.
- Develop and execute a clear growth strategy capturing new market opportunities with utilities, energy companies, government and investors.
- Originate and close high‐value consulting engagements, leveraging an established C‐suite network.
- Expand relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities to increase value captured and cross‐sell wider Talan capabilities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior clients on strategy, transformation and energy transition topics.
- Lead clients through complex transition challenges including market reform, decarbonisation pathways, and energy system transformation.
- Complement and elevate our existing capabilities in policy, economic analysis and advisory services, selling into a wider C‐suite network.
- Ensure high‐quality delivery across engagements, leveraging multidisciplinary teams.
- Bring a strong understanding of sector challenges (smart energy, market reform, security of supply, digitalisation, oil & gas).
- Broaden Talan's UK Energy offering into strategic advisory and C‐suite engagement.
- Integrate digital, data and technology capabilities into consulting propositions, drawing on Talan's wider expertise.
- Build repeatable offers aligned to priority growth areas (e.g. digital energy systems, regulatory transformation, asset optimisation).
- Position Talan as a differentiated player combining deep sector insight and technology enablement.
- Work closely with Talan's global Energy leadership, including Partners based in Paris and other regions.
- Drive cross‐selling opportunities and contribute to international client engagements.
- Bring global best practice and insights into the UK market.
- Support and participate in wider group initiatives across sectors and geographies.
Leadership & Team Development
- Act as a senior leader within the UK consulting team.
- Mentor and develop consultants, helping elevate the team's commercial and strategic capabilities.
- Foster a collaborative, high‐performance culture aligned with Talan's values.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in consulting within Energy & Utilities (strategy, transformation, or sector advisory).
- Strong track record of business development and revenue growth, at Partner or Director level.
- Deep understanding of the UK energy market and broader global energy trends.
- Proven experience across conventional and new energy value chains, with exposure to both upstream and downstream activities (e.g. generation, grid, distribution, or retail energy).
- Established network across utilities, energy companies, network operators, central government departments, oil & gas, or energy‐related institutions.
- Ability to bridge sector expertise with digital and technology‐led solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across global teams and multidisciplinary environments.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset, with a self‐starter and team‐oriented approach.
