Job Description

The Role

We are recruiting an ambitious Business Analyst to work in the Digital business unit as a Senior Consultant. You will support our clients and stakeholders across the Energy sectors to design and deliver successful digital change initiatives. As a Senior Consultant, you will be an enthusiastic self-starter able to work proactively with business stakeholders to extract, challenge, and specify business and technical/system requirements. You will work with a team of experts who will support the solution, development, and management of technical solutions on behalf of Talan\’s clients. This is an exciting opportunity and is central to ensuring that Talan can deliver and manage the right technical solutions to clients in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently or alongside other specialist roles such as developers (external), system architects, UX designers, developers, and testers to ensure that requirements are being adequately designed and delivered.
  • Lead the approach to requirements engineering under sequential and linear Waterfall models, as well as leading iterative product discovery utilising modern Agile techniques (such as Scrum and Kanban).
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to agree on the appropriate product and solution design considerations and run effective business and systems elicitation workshops.
  • Support or conduct user research.
  • Produce analysis on large business contexts and structures, in the form of business process models illustrating the as-is, and effectively creating to-be state models, as well as user journey diagrams.
  • Support the production of functional and non-functional requirements for Waterfall projects, as well as defining personas, epics, and user stories for Agile projects and product developments.
  • Create compelling business cases and value statements.
  • Lead and actively contribute to agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint retros, and sprint demos.
  • Investigate technical feasibility, and relationships between system entities and make recommendations on build v buy decisions as part of the wider digital transformational activities.
  • Participate in design reviews and make recommendations to address risks, dependencies, issues, and recommendations.
  • Further, develop better working practices and processes across the Digital business unit.
  • Support future business development initiatives, inputting into bids and proposals when required.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Product and technical solution consultancy experience
  • BCS/ISEB certification in Business Analysis.
  • Ability to create low and high-fidelity prototypes
  • TOGAF knowledge or accreditation
  • 3-5 year’s experience in a similar role in either a consultancy or digitally enabled business
  • Understanding/ experience of the UK energy market, including business and data architecture/market and regulatory design processes.
  • Confident communicator, with the ability to influence and steer stakeholders at all levels.
  • Expertise in the use and configuration of JIR

Upon employment, employees should also have a sound awareness of the Company\’s Information, Quality, Environmental and Energy Management Systems.
