Our portfolio of products returns over £45m in sales per annum and we are recruiting a Category Manager to join our small team during a period of transformational change and sustained growth. Are you a confident communicator, comfortable managing multi-million pound budgets? Are you a highly skilled Category Manager, proficient in all things range assortment, pricing, product performance and product quality? Comfortable negotiating prices with strong supplier management skills? Do you have drop ship experience? Can you multi-task with the ability to work with numerous different products? Are you a strong people manager with previous leadership experience? Then we want to hear from you.
You will work closely with a category assistant and this role can be based anywhere in the UK, but ideally Scotland or Gloucester. We have an excellent salary on offer, with a bonus, salary sacrifice pension plus 23 days holiday and your birthday off.
Main responsibilities:- Use customer insight to build effective ranges for your designated category.
- Create a range and product offer that is distinctive against our competition, and suitable for our customers.
- Identify product gaps in Category and new category opportunities.
- Proactively monitor agreed key competitors for pricing, promotional activity and range gaps/opportunities.
- Source new and alternative products, considering all aspects including packaging, damages, freight considerations, supplier stability, exchange rate exposure.
- Constantly monitor category pricing against our competitors and proactively propose any changes to maintain our market position.
- Manage effective relationships with existing suppliers, including regular mutual performance reviews.
- With established suppliers, implement rebates and discuss marketing promotions, for example contributions to special offer flyers or reduced buy prices for promotion periods.
- Manage contracts and trading terms with suppliers.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly reviews of category performance.
- Product Management/Buying experience is required with a preference for experience within the Office Furniture product Categories.
- Ideally, you will have experience in Office Furniture Categories.
- Ideally, you will have led or coached less-experienced team members (assistants).
- Drop ship experience is required.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience of working within a product/ecommerce/furniture business is an advantage.
