The Challenge: The Global Payroll Tax Manager role will assist with researching and advising on all payroll tax matters relating to our mobility workforce, assess and address regulatory tax notices, and facilitate guidance with our third-party tax and payroll advisor(s). This role requires a deep understanding of tax regulations related to payroll tax withholding and reporting. This role will collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure compliance with tax laws, provide strategic guidance, and contribute to the overall success of the organization. This role will support all Global activities and report directly to the Sr Director, Payroll Operations.
What You’ll Take On:
- Manage, coordinate and facilitate all inquiries with our third-party tax advisor, payroll vendor(s), and Global Payroll and Mobility team(s).
- Assist with payroll/tax/audit research and respond to escalations in a timely manner.
- Provide expert advice on international tax matters related to global mobility, including expatriate tax compliance, tax equalization, and tax planning.
- Manage the relationship and costs with our third party tax services provider.
- Manage tax compliance for expatriates, including tax return preparation and filing, coordination with external tax advisors, and ensuring adherence to local tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies for global assignments, considering both company and employee perspectives.
- Review and analyze tax implications of global mobility policies and programs, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with HR, payroll, and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting and compliance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of global mobility policies and procedures, ensuring they are up to date with current tax laws and best practices.
- Prepare various documents for tax calculations, cost estimate, deregistration/registration, tax form reviews.
- Determine taxability impact on fringe benefits or other pay impacting program calculations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all inquiries regarding mobility and payroll tax matters.
- Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.
What You Bring:
- 10+ years of payroll tax experience and a focus on expat assignments.
- Degree or equivalent experience.
- Payroll accounting theory, principles, practices, and applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; intermediate Excel knowledge (i.e., pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
- Strong team player, with the ability to work cooperatively with individuals at all levels.
- Possesses strong technical and analytical skills and can deal well with complexity and abstraction.
- Handles multiple and concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
- Makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines.
- Capable of being well organized and command strong planning skills.
- Professionalism, interpersonal and the ability to work with various personalities.
- A self-starting creative thinker with analytical skills and ability to recommend solutions to complex issues.
