Female Personal Assistant required to assist a 66 year old lady with MS who has had a recent stroke, living in the Uddingston area.

Provide one to one care and assistance within their home, and in the community including attending to personal care and participation in social activities.

The PA should take a proactive and innovative approach to support and encourage individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

The most important qualities are a sense of humour, warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.

Responsibilities

  • Attending to all personal care needs; up and out of bed, showering, dressing, catheter care, getting ready for bed
  • Assisting with medication
  • Preparing meals and healthy snacks, some help with eating
  • Trips out and about, walking alongside motorized wheelchair, assisting with participation in activities such as shopping, out for food, to the theatre and cinema
  • Moving and assisting – using tracking hoist
  • Household shopping and collecting prescriptions
  • Escort to hospital appointment
  • General housework
  • Any other daily living tasks to promote independent living
  • Favourite activities are cinema, theatre, listening to music, singing, having themed movie days, special days out
  • Must be able to work with birds nearby, in an a outside aviary

Qualifications and Requirements

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Driver with Full UK Automatic Driving Licence is essential and you will be required to drive an automatic mobility vehicle.

Experience is essential, and training will be provided.

Recruiting for 1 position.

Fixed term position for Maternity Leave cover, which is from 1st August to 1st April for 25 hours per week (Job open to new permanent applicants).

EXAMPLE

  • Flexible rota between 3 PAs, over 7 days, working occasional weekends.
  • Monday - Sunday: 9:30am – 2:30pm (between 3 PAs)
  • Evening support 9:30pm – 10:15pm (changing to nightclothes, settling in bed, empty catheter)
  • £12.60 per hour
