Position Purpose

The Senior Buyer – Electrical & Controls supports both the operational and strategic procurement of electrical components, control systems, wiring, and related technologies. This role blends day‑to‑day purchasing responsibilities with opportunities to contribute to broader category initiatives and strategic sourcing activities. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and interested in growing their expertise within electrical and controls procurement.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage daily purchasing of electrical and controls components to support production and project requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and track purchase orders in the ERP system.
  • Monitor deliveries and expedite materials as required.
  • Resolve supplier‑related issues such as delays, shortages, and basic quality discrepancies.
  • Support invoice reconciliation and coordinate with Finance to resolve discrepancies.

Category Support & Strategic Activities

  • Assist with RFQs/RFPs, quotation analysis, and contract support.
  • Conduct basic cost, spend, and market analysis to support category strategy development.
  • Participate in research on alternative suppliers, technologies, and materials.
  • Support should‑cost and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.

Supplier Management

  • Maintain routine communication with suppliers regarding order status and performance.
  • Support supplier scorecard updates and data collection.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and elevate issues where needed.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to clarify specifications and ensure alignment.
  • Support sourcing activities for New Product Introductions (NPIs).
  • Participate in project meetings as needed to coordinate procurement requirements.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate supplier master data and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in improving procurement processes, ERP workflows, and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Procurement or supply chain experience, ideally in electrical or technical commodities.
  • Familiarity with electrical components and terminology preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Exposure to supplier qualification or sourcing processes.
  • Interest in developing toward a more strategic category role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or project‑driven environment.
