Position Purpose
Waterjet Operators play a key role in our manufacturing process, producing parts using computer numerically controlled (CNC) waterjets, to cut and produce precision components. Essentially, a Waterjet Operator’s goal is to ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures to produce high quality, precision parts. Other essential duties include interfacing with other departments to solve problems, observing processes that support the wider business, stock control, having an active role in site safety, and ensuring that, with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork, we always strive to execute on manufacturing to the highest possible standards.
Rotating shift availability: Days / Afters – either 6:00 – 14:00 or 14:00 – 22:00.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work to plans with NESTS created to manufacture precision parts.
- Operation of FLOW waterjet machine.
- Operation of POWER waterjet machine.
- Ensure parts are manufactured to desired tolerances as instructed.
- Work within & according to health & safety guidelines to maintain personal and others safety.
- Knowledge and understanding of waterjet safety systems.
- Work to process, incorporating SSOW’s/Quality standards (clean, deburred etc).
- Periodically check all equipment is maintained to high standards and report issues.
- Performing bed setting & checking.
- Operation of garnet hopper & levels.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance including but not limited to checking oil, grease and coolant.
- Basic diagnostics of waterjets and components (Pumps etc).
- Operating extraction machine, safe storage & disposal of waste.
- Perform nozzle changes.
- Safe loading & unloading of material.
- Perform housekeeping in area including but not limited to sweeping, mopping and cleaning tools and machines.
- Perform housekeeping to drainage system (ACO channel, sump etc).
- Evaluate materials/parts etc before activities carried out and on completion of parts conform to quality checks.
- Report via NCR if any issues.
- Maintain clean & safe working environment.
- Comply with clock procedures to comply with company processes.
- Be flexible to perform duties throughout other departments.
- Engage in personal development programs/Training.
- Operate within individual & team environment maintaining work ethics individually and alongside other team members.
- Ownership/Identification of all machined parts (Marking/Labelling of parts manufactured).
- Ensure all scrap materials are placed in appropriate recycling/waste bins.
- Ensure all spare materials are placed in appropriate storage place with correct GRN displayed.
- Record & notify any material usage not issued with NESTS.
- Communication between line manager/colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be an experienced machine operator with a proven track record.
- Fully qualified FLT license holder.
- Previous control programming experience.
