As part of the Support team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical support to customers, assisting during breakdowns and responding to general enquiries. The role also involves carrying out system upgrades, modifications, inspections, and maintenance, including some basic mechanical work. This is a varied position combining hands‑on engineering, customer interaction, and project involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Log all work and enquiries on the Helpdesk system, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
- Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries and technical issues.
- Prepare equipment for site installation and maintenance activities.
- Assist with specifying and planning works, including basic electrical design.
- Compile detailed customer reports following site visits and project work.
- Carry out system inspections, maintenance, testing, and basic mechanical maintenance.
- Support control system commissioning activities.
- Manage smaller projects and tasks through to completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Work proactively, taking initiative with minimal supervision.
- Deliver work to defined deadlines while adhering to budget constraints.
- Liaise directly with customers and clients, ensuring excellent service and satisfaction.
- Support business development activities where appropriate.
- Resolve issues professionally with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety policies.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent vocational experience.
- Experience with PLC programming.
- Strong understanding of control theory, electrical systems, and safety practices.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and basic mechanical maintenance.
- Proven system fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
- Project management experience.
- Experience conducting site inspections.
- Confident working directly with clients and stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and strong manual dexterity.
- Knowledge or interest in electronics and theatre systems (desirable).
- Curious mindset with a desire to learn and improve.
- Willingness to travel as required.
