Position Purpose

The Hoist Technician is responsible for assembling and wiring control systems and lifting equipment, specifically controllers and hoists, using technical diagrams to convert components into functional, tested products. This role is an individual contributor position that emphasizes precise execution and dependable output, with an added responsibility of signing LOLER certificates, mentoring and training new employees on manufacturing and testing products. They will also have a basic knowledge of how to test hoists and cables. By delivering reliable equipment on time, you enable production teams and end users to "Create Moments that Move People," ensuring seamless installations, effective lifting operations, and smooth customer experiences. Operating at a tactical and operational level within a local or regional manufacturing site, the role carries responsibility for final assembly accuracy, workflow contribution, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role is also responsible for carrying out repairs, servicing and recalibration on any returned products.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble controllers, hoists, wiring harnesses, and sub‑assemblies from technical diagrams and engineering specifications.
  • Apply advanced wiring techniques and quality checks.
  • Test the hoist side of products and external and internal cables and harnesses.
  • Conduct functional testing, inspection, calibration and load testing of hoists to guarantee each product meets stringent safety and performance standards.
  • Mentor and train new technicians in manufacturing of products and the testing of hoists.
  • Uphold a clean, well‑organized, and hazard‑free workshop.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, and proactively report risks.
  • Identify inefficiencies or defects, recommend process improvements, and partner with internal teams to ensure reliable output, streamlined production, and on‑time delivery.
  • Provide feedback to Product Technicians on any mistakes in build and investigate documentation issues.

Qualifications and Experience

While formal qualifications are not mandatory, candidates with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering, or related fields, are encouraged to apply. Practical experience in assembling and wiring control systems and lifting equipment is advantageous. Familiarity with interpreting technical diagrams and adherence to safety protocols is beneficial. Additionally, experience with tools such as multimeters, basic soldering, and knowledge of quality standards like ISO 9001 can enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.
