Position Purpose

The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for validation and verification testing of a wide variety of new product designs products including rack‑mounted electrical power and control products, hoist & winch machinery conversions, control consoles, and related system elements.

They will plan, execute, and document this testing, prepare test equipment and environments, and work with the rest of the team to improve our test approaches and processes.

They will also spend a proportion of their time testing updates to existing products – we love continuous improvement!

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and document functional, non‑functional, and user acceptance tests on new product prototypes, updates to hardware designs, new firmware releases, and everything in‑between.
  • Create clear and detailed test plans and test reports.
  • Devise creative ways to test new products and technologies, as well as evolving our established test approaches.
  • Engage with third‑party test facilities when specialist test equipment/environments are required.
  • Build strong relationships with the rest of the Product Engineering team and across TAIT, taking a collaborative approach to new product development and testing, ensuring that quality is specified and designed in from the very beginning.
  • Support the ongoing production of existing products; fault‑finding and testing legacy designs as required.
  • Position Requirements
  • Previous experience creating and executing test plans on hardware products
  • Degree‑level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Previous exposure to automation and motion control products
  • Demonstrable track record of technical problem solving Practical exposure to electrical design (e. g. 3‑phase power, induction and servo motors, variable speed drives, PLCs, etc)
  • A passion for the entertainment industry, and a thorough understanding of what quality means to our users
  • Familiarity with automated testing and at least one scripting language would be an advantage
