The primary role of the Estimator is to assist the organisation with various estimating tasks, ranging from an entire project down to an individual part. Providing accurate historical cost data and reports to help manage staff, evaluate future elements and predict final project outcomes. This role can be based at either our Wakefield or Haverhill near Cambridge site.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of realistic estimates to support the development and management of projects.
- Incorporate feedback from involved teams to deliver projects within a given budget.
- Build a database of past project costs and forecasting tools to inform future bids.
- Work closely with Project Management, Design, Finance, Procurement and Production Control on estimates, production estimates (PE), etc.
- Engage Fabrication, Machine and Integration in the estimating process when applicable.
- Navigate ERP to pull relevant data for estimation comparisons.
- Walk the Fabrication floor regularly to observe progress and learn patterns of various elements during production.
- Produce estimates with appropriate fidelity depending on the requirement and the time available (Nuclear, ROM, Preliminary Estimate, and Bid Estimate).
- Adapt and present data dependent on bid requirements.
- Demonstrate creative aptitude with a solid understanding of construction techniques and materials.
- Support other project tasks as assigned, for example Cost to Complete (CTC).
- Collaborate effectively and efficiently with all members of the Estimating team.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.
- Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field OR 4 years of relevant work experience.
- 2-4 years of experience in controls, construction, estimation, bidding or proposal building.
- Experience with ERP software (I.E. Epicor).
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and detail-orientated environment.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
