The Controls Integrator is tasked with bringing multiple elements of a project together as one cohesive system. Controls integrators play a key technical role in all aspects of the project life cycle. An integrator has essential responsibilities in project coordination ensuring smooth and effective factory acceptance testing & site acceptance testing.
As the final step in the project process, integration is key to high-quality delivery before system handover to the client. An integrator exists on the uniquely TAIT line between technology and art, helping to create the best shows and spectacles in the world. This role can be based in either the TAIT Wakefield location, or alternatively, the TAIT Haverhill location.
Responsibilities:
- Test, configure and prepare equipment for use on site.
- Assist with controls system commissioning.
- On occasion, lead controls / electrical maintenance and site works.
- Perform inspections at client sites, identify controls / electrical problems, configure solutions, and instigate the resolution within budget to TAIT standards.
- Perform the safe installation of lifting systems.
- Prepare technical and inspection documentation.
- Make sure all final reports, documentation and tickets are kept in order and up to date, logging all work appropriately.
- Be able to travel at short notice to client sites, possibly internationally to support clients & projects.
- Assisting with specifying and planning of works including basic electrical design.
- Control system commissioning.
- Assist with the diagnosis, review and priority resolution of issues and reporting back to the relevant stakeholders.
- Engage in knowledge management and sharing process by creating and contributing to learning materials and manuals within the team and between departments.
- Engage with the projects teams to ensure successful handover of projects to integration.
- Coordinates integration of disparate elements into one cohesive project.
- Communicates frequently with rest of project team about tasks and risks.
- Comprises part of field engineering and installation team, ultimately implementing technology on site for the customer.
- Fulfills shop testing and setup responsibilities, especially for complex elements.
- Maintains a basic understanding of all integration-related technical fields.
- Develops an expert knowledge of one or more integration-related technical fields.
- Promotes and contributes to internal standards and processes.
- Play an active role in the global integration team and work with other departments to ensure the smooth running and economic success of the company and in generating new business.
- Demonstrate continuous diplomatic effort to improve operations, streamline work processes and work cooperatively to provide excellent seamless customer service.
- Establishes and cultivates good relationships with clients, stagehands, electricians, project managers, and many other personnel.
- Follow TAIT Health & Safety and Integration policies and procedures.
Knowledge Required:
- Experience working with complex, large entertainment automation machinery.
- Knowledge and understanding of entertainment/industrial automation technology and equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLC programming and control theory.
- Entertainment rigging and components.
- Ability to conduct equipment failure diagnosis and analysis.
- Understanding of mechanical systems.
