The Electrical Engineer II is a mid-level engineering position responsible for independently contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of electrical systems and components within defined project scopes. Working closely with senior engineers and project teams, you will contribute to the creation of electrical schematics, take ownership of defined portions of design packages, and assist in troubleshooting electrical issues to ensure the functionality and safety of electrical systems.

A significant portion of our portfolio includes cruise ship entertainment automation systems, and we are ideally seeking candidates with prior experience in cruise ship show control, stage automation, or integrated entertainment control systems. Familiarity with shipboard theatre environments, automation for performer flying and stage machinery, and the integration of control systems within the constraints of marine installations is highly desirable.

You’ll need a strong working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, a commitment to adhering to safety standards, and effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. As an Electrical Engineer II, you will be expected to apply prior project experience, exercise sound engineering judgment within assigned work scopes, and act as an informal technical resource to team members with less experience, while continuing to grow technically within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Design control systems which meet or exceed client specifications while providing maximum value for our portable and fixed install clients.
  • Work with a lead designer or directly perform engineering analyses of electrical loads, component layout, and functional safety of the control system.
  • Independently execute defined project scopes and support lead engineers in larger, more complex integrated automation system designs.
  • Identify technical risks early, resolve issues within your scope, and elevate when broader project impact is likely.
  • Perform optimization and value engineering reviews of both existing and new equipment for improvements in manufacturing cost and efficiency.
  • Prepare bills of materials for electrical assemblies and assist in the procurement of outside vendor parts and services.
  • Take responsibility for producing accurate electrical assembly and fabrication drawings, contribution to O & M manuals, and final client submittal packages.
  • Explore and apply emerging technologies to strengthen TAIT’s automation and control solutions.
  • Act as an informal technical resource to team members and share lessons learned to improve team effectiveness.
  • Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Previous CAD experience.
  • Previous experience designing industrial control panels.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree: BS in electrical engineering or technical theatre degree with emphasis in electrical design.
  • Experience in an Electrical Design and Engineering role or in a closely related field, with demonstrated responsibility for delivering engineered control system packages.
  • Proficient level of CAD experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with EPLAN P8 preferred.
  • Experience/proficiency with EPLAN ProPanel a plus.
  • Proven experience designing industrial control panels in accordance with UL508A.
  • Valid UL 508A MTR a plus.
  • Knowledge and Experience in: Entertainment Control Systems Architecture, Sizing overcurrent protection devices, cable, and components for system and motor control enclosures, NEC/NFPA concepts.
  • Industrial control system knowledge (ie PLC’s and VFD’s). Beckhoff knowledge is a plus. Siemens knowledge is a plus.
  • Functional Safety standards (ISO-13849 and/or IEC-62061) is a plus.
  • Experience with cruise ship entertainment automation systems, including show control networks, stage machinery automation, performer flying systems, or shipboard theatre installations, is highly desirable.
