The Automation Engineer is part of a high-performing team with a blended mechanical and controls skillset, serving as part of a rapid response unit to efficiently troubleshoot client issues, enhance service quality, and build and maintain local client relationships in the London area. This role will focus on being part of the London On-Call support team, assisting with day-to-day client needs through service visits, support ticket resolution and routine maintenance visits. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will collaborate with the wider TAIT group outside of London to aid the support of upgrades and installations of new and legacy London projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Consistently cover London On-Call rotations, acting as the primary point of contact during scheduled shifts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with London-based clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and trust.
- Provide effective remote support when required to resolve client issues efficiently.
- Take ownership of and action on tickets raised by London-based clients in a timely manner.
- Be able to mobilize to sites within London’s West End within 90 minutes of support escalations to deliver required on-site support.
- Be ‘On-Call’ for a minimum of 120 days of the year.
- Support the fit-up, handover and ongoing support phases of West End touring projects based in London, with the goal of providing continuity and quality service throughout the client’s show run.
- Collaborate closely with the Wakefield Integration Team to ensure a smooth handover of projects, transitioning support responsibility to the London team.
- Conduct site commissioning for permanent install projects within London, to maintain and expand knowledge of TAIT’s evolving system architecture and automation technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other TAIT departments to support project delivery, share knowledge, and contribute to the continuous improvement of TAIT standards.
- Actively participate in training, knowledge-sharing, and personal development to stay current with TAIT systems and best practices.
- Contribute to internal documentation, lessons learned, and feedback loops to improve departmental processes and future project outcomes.
- Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in the entertainment industry working in an automation deployment and troubleshooting role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot advanced automation systems.
- Exceptional communication skills, in writing and verbally, to articulate complex problems and solutions.
- Collaborative and inspirational, with a history of building strong relationships across diverse cross-functional teams.
- Professional aptitude in dealing with client politics and ensuring TAIT advocacy at all times.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, embracing failure as a learning opportunity.
- Impeccable judgement and integrity, with the ability to make key decisions quickly.
Working Conditions
- Online and accessible during core working hours of 8:00 – 17:00 outside of on-call shifts.
- Available to assist with project escalations out of hours to resolve urgent issues from London clients.
- Travel into London on a regular basis to attend site.
- Willing and able to travel to all TAIT office locations.
- Attend home office of Kings Cross at least twice a week.
