Hi there,
I’m currently recovering from a heel surgery where I am non-weight bearing for 6 to 12 weeks. I’m also not driving as my left foot is in a big block of plastic-cast, and I think it’s stupid to risk it. Thursdays are a difficult day for my other half, as I’m in hospital in Guy’s in London, and she plays sax, which makes her tired, let alone walking Casper.
About him:
- He is great at recall, when he wants to.
- He loves bigger dogs (clearly smaller than him as he’s the size of a horse) in his mind.
- We had him trained to use a mini-educator TENS machine. In theory, a press of one button should beep and he should return. If over-excited (e.g. a cow, horse, deer, squirrel, etc.), the press of a different button will activate the TENS, which is a buzz (not an electric shock) that should interrupt his thoughts so he should comply.
If you’ve not used it before, we can show you. When we first engaged the trainer and he asked if I was familiar with TENS, I replied “a Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulant” and he was gob-smacked. I added I’ve used one on my back for years to alleviate back pain. I hope this helps clarify things?
If things work for you and him, perhaps we might add a Monday, when I’m in St Thomas’ again in London.
Thanks,
Richard
