I am looking for someone who can sit my dogs for an evening while my wife and I attend an event in town. Both are well behaved, but Fionn has separation anxiety, and while he is often pretty good these days, we have been building up time out of the house and we're not there yet to leave him for the five or six hours we would need on this occasion.

Is this something you can assist with? It's a sitting job for an evening, something like half five to six until eleven or half past, depending on the trains back from London. If you are not able to leave your own dog, then it won't work, as he can be reactive to some 'pointy eared dogs', having been attacked some years back.

But if this is something you might consider, there are other occasions I need cover during the day when I need to go into town for meetings. Anyway, do let me know and the cost. Many thanks.

How to prepare for a job interview at Tailster

Know the Dogs

Before the interview, make sure you understand the specific needs of Fionn and the other dog. Familiarise yourself with separation anxiety in dogs and how to manage it. This shows that you care about their well-being and are prepared for the job.

Be Honest About Your Own Dog

If you have a dog, be upfront about your situation. Explain how your dog interacts with others, especially pointy-eared breeds. This transparency builds trust and helps the owner feel more comfortable with you looking after their pets.

Discuss Availability Clearly

Make sure to clarify your availability for the evening and any future sitting opportunities. If you can only commit to certain times, let them know. This will help set expectations and show that you’re organised.

Prepare Questions

Think of a few questions to ask during the interview. Inquire about the dogs' routines, any special instructions, or emergency contacts. This demonstrates your commitment and ensures you’re fully prepared for the evening.
