We have 2 slightly elderly dogs looking for cuddles and looking after while we are away on holiday. They can be left during the day (with the TV on for them) for up to 4 hours, but prefer someone with them when it starts getting dark. They love their own surroundings and the company of kind humans who love to make a fuss.
Both are medicated, so the sitter will need to be happy giving them their medicines while we are away. They are happy with a walk around the block once or twice a day and Barry isn’t keen on other dogs and will bark and pull like an idiot! However, he’s all mouth.
We also have 2 pineapple conures, so we would like someone ideally with some bird knowledge and who is happy to feed and water them when we are gone. They do come out but we don’t mind while we are away if they are kept inside.
Additionally, the sitter should be willing to leave our house in the same condition as we left it when we return.

Some tips for your application 🫡
Show Your Love for Dogs: Make sure to express your passion for dogs in your application. Share any relevant experience you have with caring for pets, especially elderly ones, and highlight how you can provide the cuddles and attention they need while their owners are away.

How to prepare for a job interview at Tailster
✨Know Your Furry Friends
Before the interview, brush up on dog behaviour and care, especially for elderly dogs. Familiarise yourself with their specific needs, like medication schedules and how to handle a dog that barks at others. This shows you’re genuinely interested in providing the best care.

Be ready to share your past experiences with pets, particularly with dogs and birds. If you've dealt with similar situations, like administering medication or managing a dog that’s a bit of a handful, make sure to highlight those stories during the interview.
✨Ask Smart Questions
Prepare some thoughtful questions about the dogs’ routines, preferences, and any quirks they might have. This not only demonstrates your enthusiasm but also helps you understand what’s expected of you as a sitter.
✨Leave No Trace
Discuss your approach to keeping the house tidy and maintaining the environment as it was found. Mention any previous experiences where you’ve ensured a pet owner returned to a clean home, which will reassure them that you’re responsible and trustworthy.
