Changing the world of pet food for good. We’re Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog’s unique Tails.com recipe – so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month. It’s clever stuff. We’ve got bold plans. Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we’re now scaling fast– backed by Purina, one of the world’s largest pet food companies. You’ll join a bunch of smart people working towards the same goals – and a bunch of smart-ish dogs, all working on their own thing. Together, we’ll change the world of pet food for good.
Join Product Management at Tails.com, and you’ll be right in the midst of the action – working with people across the company to create product experiences that delight our customers. We work in highly collaborative cross‑functional squads, bringing together engineers, designers, delivery managers, researchers, data analysts and whoever else we need to get the work done. We’re curious. We juggle many things at once. We balance a customer mindset with a commercial one, always looking for outcomes. To really thrive here you’ll be open to feedback, eager to learn, and quick to adapt.
This Senior Product Manager role is a key opportunity to shape and evolve Tails.com’s core Commerce Platforms. You’ll own a specific platform domain and work closely with a cross‑functional squad to rebuild and improve critical systems that underpin our customer experience and commercial operations. In this role, you’ll focus on delivering robust, scalable capabilities (for example, order generation) that enable the business to grow with confidence. You’ll connect technical work to clear customer and business outcomes, balancing near‑term delivery with a thoughtful longer‑term platform direction. While this role is primarily focused on platform ownership and delivery, you’ll also contribute to the wider platform transformation by helping teams and stakeholders understand how your domain fits into the broader strategy and change journey. This role would suit a PM who enjoys working in complex backend domains, partnering deeply with engineering, and translating technical work into clear value. It’s not about being the most technical person in the room – it’s about being outcome‑focused, commercially minded, and an excellent collaborator.
You will be responsible for:
- Owning the Commerce Platforms product vision and roadmap, ensuring it supports both customer experience and business priorities.
- Working with your squad to deliver resilient, high‑impact capabilities that underpin core customer journeys and commercial outcomes.
- Partnering closely with the Squad Lead and Engineers to rebuild and evolve critical systems (e.g. order generation), ensuring robustness, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Defining clear customer and business outcomes by connecting backend services to the experiences they enable.
- Applying strong discovery practices and agile ways of working to deliver value early, learn quickly, and iterate continuously.
- Balancing short‑term delivery needs with longer‑term platform health, making trade‑offs explicit and well‑communicated.
- Refining and maintaining a high‑quality product backlog with clear context, priorities, and acceptance criteria.
- Supporting the broader transformation programme by clearly communicating how your platform domain aligns to the wider strategy, helping stakeholders understand the rationale, progress, and impact of change through clear storytelling and collaboration.
The skills you’ll bring:
- Proven track record leading cross‑functional squads to deliver complex, transformation initiatives in backend, API, and systems‑focused domains.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts into clear outcomes, priorities, and roadmaps aligned with company strategy.
- Deep understanding of how technical capabilities drive customer value and business outcomes.
- A systems‑thinking mindset, able to navigate complexity and make sense of interconnected services and dependencies.
- Exceptional communicator who cuts through complexity, brings clarity, and builds alignment across stakeholders with competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create clarity and alignment across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience shaping and managing product backlogs with appropriate technical context and strong agile practices.
- A collaborative approach to partnering with engineering managers, architects, and senior leaders to make informed trade‑offs and manage risk.
Even better if you have:
- Experience in start‑up or scale‑up environments.
- Experience in platform modernisation or transformation programmes in a growing business.
- Exposure to subscription‑based services, ideally involving physical product delivery.
- Knowledge of the pet, nutrition, or wellness categories.
- Hands‑on experience with advanced personalisation, machine learning, and AI‑driven solutions.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive salary, reviewed annually.
- Annual bonus, based on company performance.
- Flexible core hours, giving you true work life balance.
- Hybrid role to ensure this role works for you.
- 25 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays) which increases over time to a max of 27 days.
- 9/10 day working week to enhance your wellbeing without a reduction in pay and leave allowance.
- Optional 5 days unpaid leave and 1 paid volunteer day each year.
