The Project Delivery Manager is key to executing the delivery/commercialisation phase of the New Product Development (NPD) process.
We are Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog's unique Tails.com recipe â so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month.
Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we are now scaling fast â backed by Purina, one of the world's largest pet food companies. Together, we will change the world of pet food for good.
The role focuses on converting innovation ideas into practical, executable plans and driving crossâfunctional delivery through to launch. It works closely with the Range Innovation Manager who has overall project responsibility. Once initiatives have been defined and approved, this role ensures that approved innovations are delivered to market efficiently, on time, within budget, and to required quality and compliance standards.
You will be responsible for:
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop and manage detailed delivery plans, timelines, resource allocation, and budgets. Ensure all deliverables are met across packaging, formulation, sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, operational improvements, promotional activities, and launch readiness. Identify project risks and create mitigation plans.
- CrossâFunctional Coordination: Act as the link between Innovation and other functions such as Marketing, Commercial, Digital, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Operations teams during the delivery phase of the stage gate process. Facilitate effective communication and ensure team alignment throughout all project phases. Organise project meetings, reviews, and update sessions. Drive decision making and ensure escalation of issues rapidly where required to maintain project delivery timelines.
- Product Launch Management: Oversee delivery phase of product launch cyclesâfrom concept approval to market rollout. Coordinate operational readiness for product launches, including packaging development and artwork finalisation, supplier onboarding and material availability, product trials and scale up, regulatory compliance and risk management, production planning, and goâtoâmarket activity plans. Ensure that launch timings align with defined commercial plans.
- Project and Performance Tracking: Monitor project milestones and KPIs, providing regular updates to leadership. Ensure documentation, project reports, and postâimplementation reviews are completed. Use project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or SAPâbased tools. Identify delivery risks and constraints, implement mitigation plans. Manage project budgets and control cost creep during execution. Track critical path activities and proactively address delays.
- Governance, Reporting & Gate Management: Manage NPD stageâgate deliverables during the delivery phase. Provide regular progress updates, risks, and mitigation plans to senior stakeholders. Ensure documentation, change control, and approvals are completed in line with governance standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing or supply chain functions. Drive standardisation and bestâpractice adoption across project processes. Lead postâlaunch reviews focused on delivery performance, learnings, and improvement opportunities. Support refinement of NPD delivery processes and ways of working.
The skills you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Food Science, or related discipline.
- 3â7 years' experience delivering NPD or change projects in FMCG or consumer goods.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
- Strong project management experience.
- Proven experience managing complex, crossâfunctional delivery teams.
- Solid understanding of FMCG type operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, and packaging.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong risk management, planning, and problemâsolving abilities.
- Experience working within structured NPD stageâgate frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problemâsolving skills.
- Ability to work in highâpressure, fastâpaced environments with tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of supply chain, marketing, manufacturing, or NPD processes.
- Proficiency with project software tools.
- Detailâoriented and organised.
- Ability to lead without formal authority.
