We’re looking for a Food Performance & Nutrition Analyst to undertake advanced analytics at the intersection of product, pet satisfaction, and customer behavior. The role involves building and maintaining data pipelines, defining metrics, and applying statistical rigor to uncover insights that improve food experiences for both pets and customers. The analyst will partner with Product, Food teams, Tailoring Technology workstream, and Infrastructure & Analytics Engineering to formalise how we evaluate food performance, integrate new datasets, and support scalable experimentation.

The role

Lead advanced analytics across the food domain, driving better food experiences through data-driven decision making.

  • Design and own a food performance framework incorporating customer-reported and behaviourally observed signals while controlling for confounding variables.
  • Set up performance monitoring and reporting for food acceptance and product-related behavior signals (e.g., cancellations, flavour switch rates, repeat rates).
  • Support product and range teams in testing and launching new products, leading needs assessment, feasibility analysis, nutritional impact evaluation, and defining required changes through launch and adoption.
  • Build upon existing simulation and measurement tooling for the Tailoring Technology workstream, including frameworks to evaluate efficacy of recommendations and optimization for optimal customer outcomes.
  • Analyze impacts of evolving product recommendations, identifying behavioral drivers of cancellation, satisfaction shifts, and long‑term retention effects.
  • Collaborate on SKU remapping, product catalogue development, and nutrition data integrations, ensuring data readiness and analytic coverage through building and updating pipelines and rigorously testing data validity.
  • Ingest and leverage high‑dimensional nutrition and NIR machine data from QC processes to evaluate manufacturing tolerances, batch variability, and related impact on customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver clear, actionable insights and documentation for leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders with varied levels of technical knowledge.

The skills you’ll bring

  • 2–4+ years of experience in data analytics or applied product analytics.
  • Strong communication skills – translate technical insight into clear business recommendations.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with complex, messy, real‑world data from multiple sources; Python desirable.
  • Hands‑on experience with metric design and behavior‑based performance measurement.
  • Highly competent time management and ability to prioritize, source, generate, and deliver impactful work with key partners.
  • Skilled in data visualisation and storytelling using BI tools (e.g., ThoughtSpot, Looker, Tableau).
  • Experience working with and influencing cross‑functionally (Product, Proposition, Engineering, R&D, and Data teams).

Even better if you have

  • Familiarity with pet nutrition, foodtech, or manufacturing data (e.g., NIR, QC workflows).
  • Demonstrated ability to ingest and model high‑dimensional manufacturing or QC datasets.
  • Experience designing and analyzing experiments and/or simulations for product feature impact.
  • Exposure to using survey data and leveraging unstructured customer feedback for analytics.
  • Understanding of DTC or subscription business models and customer lifecycle analytics.

What’s in it for you

  • Competitive salary, reviewed annually.
  • Flexible core hours for work‑life balance.
  • Hybrid role (2 days in London office).
  • 25 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays), increasing over time to a maximum of 27 days.
  • Flexible working fortnight to enhance wellbeing without a reduction in pay or leave allowance.
  • Optional unpaid leave and paid volunteer day each year.
  • Opportunities to work from abroad 2 weeks every 6 months.
  • Health insurance paid by the company.
  • Extended maternity, paternity, shared parental, and adoption pay (6 months at 70% pay).
  • Flexible paid care leave for dependants and pets.
  • In‑house L&D team with year‑round courses for development.
  • 50% discount on all Tails.com products.
  • Discounted gym membership.
