A leading multidisciplinary building services consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the continued growth of their Cambridge office. This role will involve leading the mechanical delivery of technically challenging projects across science & research, healthcare, education, commercial and specialist sectors, with a strong pipeline of refurbishment and retrofit work. The successful candidate will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment with excellent long-term progression opportunities.
The Role
- Mechanical building services design and project delivery
- Managing projects through RIBA Stages 3 & 4
- Producing and reviewing technical designs and specifications
- Coordinating with internal disciplines and external stakeholders
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
- Client liaison and attendance at design meetings
- Supporting project delivery, commercial performance and technical quality
At Principal level, there will also be increased involvement in:
- Team leadership
- Resource planning
- Bid support and fee input
- Project financial oversight
- Line management responsibilities
Requirements
- Building services consultancy experience is essential
- Strong mechanical/HVAC design background
- Experience across sectors such as healthcare, laboratories, education or commercial projects
- Familiarity with retrofit and refurbishment projects
- Good knowledge of industry standards and regulations
- Revit/AutoCAD experience preferred
- Strong communication and coordination skills
Salary & Benefits
- Senior level typically £45K-£50K
- Hybrid working (3 days office)
- 9-day working fortnight – option to work slightly longer hours Monday to Friday across a two-week period, allowing employees to take every other Friday off while maintaining full salary
