Principal or Associate level Electrical Engineer required to join a well-established Building Services Consultancy in Cambridge. This is a key leadership position within a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering complex engineering projects across science & research, healthcare, education, commercial and specialist sectors. The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of major projects, mentor developing engineers and play a significant part in the continued growth of the Cambridge office.
The Role
This position combines technical leadership, client management and team development responsibilities. Responsibilities will include:
- Leading electrical design delivery across multiple projects
- Managing and mentoring engineers within the team
- Checking and reviewing technical work
- Supporting bids, fee proposals and project financial management
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams
- Supporting wider regional collaboration across Oxford, Cambridge and Midlands offices
- Driving quality and technical excellence throughout delivery
At Principal level there is a stronger focus on line management, project leadership and team coordination, while Associate level responsibilities become increasingly commercial, bid focused and client-facing.
Requirements
- Strong background within building services consultancy
- Proven experience delivering complex electrical building services projects
- Experience managing teams and mentoring engineers
- Commercial awareness and client-facing capability
- Strong understanding of British Standards and regulations
- Revit/AutoCAD experience desirable
- Ability to lead projects through detailed design stages
Salary & Benefits
- Salary £50K-£72K
- 25 Days Holiday
- Hybrid working – typically 3 days in office
- 9-day working fortnight – option to work slightly longer hours Monday to Friday across a two-week period, allowing employees to take every other Friday off while maintaining full salary.
