A fantastic opportunity has arisen for our specialist surveying clients based in Essex, with a utility and subsurface surveying consultancy delivering high-quality underground utility mapping services across London, the South East, and nationwide. The business supports Tier 1 contractors, developers, planners, engineers, architects, and public sector bodies on infrastructure, highways, and construction projects. With decades of combined industry experience, SSIP and ISO accreditations, and a strong focus on PAS128-compliant survey delivery, they are known for their technical accuracy, safety-led approach, and investment in the latest utility mapping technology. They are now looking to expand the team with an experienced topographical land surveyor.

Reporting to the Survey Manager, the Topographical Surveyor will work alongside a team of experienced surveyors and CAD technicians, carrying out topographical and utility surveys across a variety of live sites throughout the M25 and South East corridor, producing accurate field data and survey deliverables to a consistently high standard.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Carry out topographical surveys across various sites as a Topographical Surveyor
  • Conduct underground utility surveys using GPR and detection equipment
  • Capture accurate field data using GPS and total station equipment
  • Process and deliver clean survey data ready for CAD production
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, and site teams on requirements
  • Ensure all site work follows strict health and safety procedures
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to manufacturer specifications regularly

Experience & Qualification:

  • Proven experience working as a Topographical Surveyor or similar role
  • Strong working knowledge of GPS, total station, and GPR equipment
  • Experience with PAS128 utility surveys and underground detection methods
  • Confident processing survey data using AutoCAD or similar software
  • Full UK driving licence required for travel to various sites
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate data capture skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively
