A fantastic opportunity has arisen for our specialist surveying clients based in Essex, with a utility and subsurface surveying consultancy delivering high-quality underground utility mapping services across London, the South East, and nationwide. The business supports Tier 1 contractors, developers, planners, engineers, architects, and public sector bodies on infrastructure, highways, and construction projects. With decades of combined industry experience, SSIP and ISO accreditations, and a strong focus on PAS128-compliant survey delivery, they are known for their technical accuracy, safety-led approach, and investment in the latest utility mapping technology.

Due to continued growth, my client is now seeking an experienced Utilities Surveyor to join their expanding team. This role is focused on the collection and interpretation of underground utility data using specialist utility mapping equipment. This position can be open to more of a trainee assistant level, too, for the right candidate.

Responsibility & Duties

  • Undertake underground utility surveys using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electro-Magnetic Locators (EML).
  • Carry out PAS128-compliant utility mapping surveys.
  • Accurately collect, interpret, and record utility data on site.
  • Operate and care for utility mapping equipment to required standards.
  • Liaise with clients and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Experience & Qualification

  • Proven experience in utility surveying/utility mapping, ideally 2 – 3 years.
  • Strong understanding of PAS128 standards.
  • Confident using utility mapping equipment (GPR, EML).
  • Willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
