A brilliant opportunity has arisen for one of our clients, a multidisciplinary surveying consultancy based in South Yorkshire, who have built its reputation on technical excellence, cutting-edge equipment and a genuinely close-knit team culture across underground utility mapping and survey technology.
Operating across construction, industrial, heritage, petrochemical, power and rail sectors throughout the UK, the company delivers 3D laser scanning, land surveying and CAD/BIM services alongside its utility survey work, backed by continued investment in its purpose-built offices and staff development.
Due to sustained growth, the business is now looking to strengthen its survey team with an experienced Utility Surveyor based in the Yorkshire area.
As Utility Surveyor, you will work closely with the wider survey team and project managers, taking responsibility for locating buried services, leading a small site team, and processing GPR survey data ready for CAD drafting back at base.
Responsibility & Duties
- Locate and trace buried utilities using GPR and detection equipment.
- Lead a small survey team as Utility Surveyor on live sites.
- Process 3D GPR data and prepare CAD drawings back at base.
- Deliver accurate utility survey data across diverse construction and infrastructure projects.
- Liaise directly with clients to ensure survey deliverables meet requirements.
- Maintain strict health and safety standards while working on site.
- Travel to project sites locally and across the UK as required.
Experience & Qualification
- Significant experience working as a Utility Surveyor or similar role.
- Industry-related qualification in utility surveying or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of GPR systems and Vivax or RD detection equipment.
- Basic knowledge of Auto CAD for drafting and drawing review is advantageous.
- Sound understanding of underground utility mapping and survey processes.
- Flexible, adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced working environment.
- Full UK driving licence required for travel to project sites.
