Tailored Recruitment Partners are recruiting for an HGV Class 1/2 Shunter driver on a temporary to permanent basis. Working Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturdays on average 8-10 hours per day. We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Shunter Driver to move trailers, vehicles, and equipment safely around the depot or yard. The successful candidate will ensure vehicles are positioned correctly for loading, unloading, maintenance, and dispatch while maintaining high safety standards and supporting efficient yard operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Move trailers and vehicles safely within the yard and depot areas.
- Position trailers onto loading bays and designated parking areas.
- Carry out vehicle and trailer checks before movement.
- Ensure all movements comply with site safety procedures and transport regulations.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, drivers, and transport teams.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and vehicle checks.
- Report defects, damage, or safety concerns immediately.
- Keep the yard organised and ensure traffic flow remains efficient.
- Assist with loading and unloading operations where required.
- Follow all company policies relating to health and safety.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience as a Shunter Driver, Yard Driver, or HGV Driver preferred.
- Valid HGV/LGV licence (if required by the role).
- Good understanding of transport and yard safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including shifts and weekends if required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
