We are seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Planner to join our operations team. This is a key role responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of our fleet of 25 vehicles operating throughout the Yorkshire and North East region. The successful candidate will ensure efficient route planning, effective fleet utilisation, and provide operational support to drivers while they are on the road. This position requires excellent organisational skills, strong communication abilities, and previous experience within a transport planning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule daily vehicle movements across the Yorkshire and North East region.
  • Manage and optimise the utilisation of a fleet of 25 vehicles.
  • Act as the main point of contact for drivers while they are on the road, providing support and resolving operational issues as they arise.
  • Monitor vehicle progress and respond proactively to delays, route changes, and customer requirements.
  • Ensure transport operations are carried out efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with customers, drivers, and internal departments to maintain high service standards.
  • Maintain accurate transport records and planning documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve route efficiency and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Transport Planner or similar transport operations role.
  • Strong geographical knowledge of Yorkshire and the North East.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good IT skills and experience using transport management systems would be advantageous.

Working Hours

  • Week 1: 9:00am – 5:30pm
  • Week 2: 12:00pm – 8:30pm

However, for the right candidate, we would also consider a permanent 12:00pm – 8:30pm shift pattern.
