We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist therapeutic residential childcare organisation in Welshpool, Powys, seeking caring, resilient and motivated individuals to join their established residential care teams. The organisation provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people who have experienced trauma and adversity. Their approach focuses on building positive relationships, creating safe and nurturing environments, and helping young people develop the confidence, resilience and life skills needed to achieve positive futures.

We are interested in speaking with candidates at all levels, from those looking to start a career in residential childcare through to experienced Senior Practitioners and Team Leaders.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary ranging from £28,051 to £37,060 per annum
  • Hourly rates ranging from £13.45 to £17.77 per hour
  • Enhanced overtime rates from £17.93 to £22.50 per hour
  • £100 per sleep-in shift if exceptionally required
  • Dedicated waking nights team, meaning sleep-ins are generally not required

The Role

As part of the therapeutic care team, you will support children and young people within a residential setting, helping them to feel safe, valued and supported. No two days are the same, and the role combines practical support, relationship building, mentoring, safeguarding and helping young people engage in everyday activities and experiences. You will work closely with colleagues and other professionals to create a structured and nurturing environment where children can thrive emotionally, socially and educationally.

Essential

  • Aged 21 years or over
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous experience within care, support work, education, youth work, mental health, residential childcare or a similar people-focused environment
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people

We also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills who are looking to build a long-term career within residential childcare.

Hours Available

Part-time and full-time opportunities are available, including:

  • 24 hours per week - permanent contract
  • 32 hours per week - permanent contract
  • Full-time permanent contracts

Please note that all positions operate on a rota basis, including weekends, and fixed working days cannot be guaranteed.
