A well-established and growing children's care provider is seeking an experienced Senior Residential Worker / Team Leader to join one of its homes in Peterborough. About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of a residential service for young people aged 8-18. The home supports individuals with a range of needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural challenges. You will lead by example, ensuring high standards of care while helping young people develop, thrive, and reach their potential. This role includes a rota covering weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager in the daily operations of the service
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
  • Contribute to and help lead care planning and reviews
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Work collaboratively with families and external professionals
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and internal policies
  • Lead shifts, delegate tasks, and support staff development
  • Engage young people in daily routines and activities (e.g. sports, creative sessions)
  • Administer and record medication safely
  • Act as a positive role model for both staff and young people

Requirements

  • Experience in a residential children's setting (minimum 2 years preferred)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)
  • Right to Work in the UK - sponsorship is not available
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people
