Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an independent school that specialises in providing high-quality education for children with Learning Disabilities (LD).
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference. As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with both the teaching staff and pupils, ensuring each child receives the tailored support they need to thrive. The role requires a calm, compassionate, and proactive individual who understands the importance of nurturing an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting teaching staff in delivering lessons and activities tailored to individual learning needs
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to students with a variety of learning disabilities
- Helping pupils develop social, emotional, and academic skills
- Assisting with classroom management and ensuring a safe, engaging learning space
- Supporting students during break times and transitions
- Attending staff meetings and contributing to the wider team, including a later finish at 5pm on Wednesdays
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with SEND children is essential
- A Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) is desirable, but not essential for candidates with strong, relevant experience in similar roles
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
