We are working in partnership with our client, a child-focused residential care provider, to recruit a Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader for their homes in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity to join a service that prioritises high-quality care, staff development and a healthy work-life balance.

The Role

As Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service. You'll help lead and motivate the staff team while delivering consistent, high-quality care to young people aged 8-18 with needs including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural challenges. This role operates on a rota basis and includes weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager in the operational management of the home
  • Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people
  • Contribute to care planning, reviews, and risk assessments
  • Maintain accurate records, daily logs, and incident reports
  • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, and external professionals
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, Ofsted standards, and internal policies
  • Safely administer medication and manage related documentation
  • Act as a positive role model for young people and colleagues
  • Support young people with daily routines, education, and recreational activities

What Our Client Is Looking For

  • Experience working in children's residential care
  • Previous exposure to Ofsted-regulated environments (preferred)
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and leadership skills
  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare
  • A full UK driving licence (preferred)
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people
