We are working in partnership with our client, a child-focused residential care provider, to recruit a Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader for their homes in Northampton. The Role
As Senior Residential Support Worker / Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service. You'll help lead and motivate the staff team while delivering consistent, high-quality care to young people aged 8-18 with needs including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural challenges. This role operates on a rota basis and includes weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Home Manager in the operational management of the home
- Lead shifts and provide clear direction to the residential care team
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people
- Contribute to care planning, reviews, and risk assessments
- Maintain accurate records, daily logs, and incident reports
- Work collaboratively with families, social workers, and external professionals
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, Ofsted standards, and internal policies
- Safely administer medication and manage related documentation
- Act as a positive role model for young people and colleagues
- Support young people with daily routines, education, and recreational activities
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Experience working in children's residential care
- Previous exposure to Ofsted-regulated environments (preferred)
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and leadership skills
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare
- A full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people
