The Senior Commercial Manager will be a key driver of the commercial growth strategy.

This role is primarily focused on identifying, developing and winning new business across the UK fresh produce market whilst strategically managing a portfolio of key national accounts.

We are looking for a commercially astute individual with a proven track record of opening doors, creating opportunities and converting prospects into profitable long-term partnerships.

You will be expected to challenge conventional thinking, identify emerging market opportunities and as the supplier of choice across retail, foodservice, wholesale and manufacturing.

Success in this role will be measured not only by the growth of existing business but, more importantly, by the acquisition of new customers, increased market share, improved profitability and the development of sustainable commercial partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the businesses development strategy to generate sustainable sales and profitable revenue growth.
  • Identify, qualify and convert new commercial opportunities across retail, wholesale, foodservice and food manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain a high-quality sales pipeline with clear conversion targets.
  • Build relationships with influencers across the industry.
  • Lead commercial negotiations including annual pricing, tenders, promotional planning and supply agreements.
  • Build trusted long-term relationships with customers at all levels.
  • Ensure the business becomes the preferred strategic supply partner through service excellence and commercial innovation.
  • We require;
  • Proven success winning significant new business within Fresh Produce or the wider FMCG food sector.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Technical aptitude and it is a part of their core strengths.
  • Experience leading complex tender processes from opportunity identification through to contract award.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for developing new markets.
  • Strategic commercial thinking combined with excellent execution.
  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen with the ability to manage revenue, margin and profitability.
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building ability with customers, growers and internal stakeholders.
