Tai Tarian is the social landlord for over 9,000 properties across Neath Port Talbot. We are looking for motivated people who want to be part of a team who pride themselves on delivering excellence. This role is permanent with a starting salary of £65,000 per annum. The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a company's financial operations, ensuring the accurate and timely presentation of monthly management accounts, the annual budget and mid-year forecast, and for accurately forecasting the end of year financial performance for the business as the year progresses.

Criteria for the role:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA)
  • Degree Level Qualification (2:1)
  • Experience of managing complex problems and the ability to dissect the problem into actionable component parts.
  • Experience of complex project management, requiring cross-functional coordination in effective and timely delivery of identified outcomes.
  • Experience using technical expertise in a business partnering/consultative role where actions and influencing are required to achieve the optimum collective result.
  • Experience operating in an environment where data is used to drive unbiased recommendations and decisions.

About the role:

This postholder will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and standards as well as internal and external regulations and compliance requirements. Some of the duties of the Financial Controller include:

  • Monitoring income and expenditure to ensure that the business's activities remain affordable both in the short term (in-year budgets), and in the longer term (5 & 30-year business plans).
  • Implementing and maintaining robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Supervising the management accounting and business partnering teams, to ensure accounting records are kept up to date throughout the month and stakeholder reporting requirements are met.
  • Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements to SMT and onward to Board, Welsh Government and Funders.
