The Role

  • Design and develop paper and cardboard packaging using Adobe Illustrator (or similar software).
  • Create physical prototypes and mock-ups, bringing concepts to life from design through to production.
  • Adapt designs to meet retailer and brand guidelines.
  • Develop an understanding of print processes, dielines and sustainable materials.
  • Collaborate with design, production and commercial teams to ensure packaging is functional, commercially viable and creatively engaging.
  • Research and explore new sustainable packaging solutions and innovative materials.
  • Communicate confidently with clients and overseas suppliers via email, ensuring projects progress smoothly and professionally.
  • Assist with general administration and project coordination where required.

Experienced Candidate

This role would suit someone with experience in the retail or packaging industry who is looking for a flexible part-time opportunity while continuing to contribute their knowledge and creativity.

Junior Candidate

Equally, we'd welcome a junior applicant with a genuine interest in design, a keen eye for detail and a desire to gain hands‑on experience within the packaging industry.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Good administration, organisational and communication skills.
  • Confidence communicating professionally with clients and suppliers by email.
  • A passion for design, sustainability and creative problem-solving.
  • Natural ability or interest in crafting, model making or working with paper and card.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW is beneficial but not essential if you're willing to learn.
  • Excellent attention to detail, typography and brand consistency.
  • The ability to work in a fast‑paced commercial environment and manage multiple projects.
