The Company:
Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Men’s Knitwear Designer to join a busy design team. Our client a clothing importer based in the UK supplying the UK, mainland Europe and rest of world high street retailers. Production is mostly made in South Asia & China.
The Role:
- Developing seasonal stock collections across several in-house brands.
- Working to customer briefs to present relevant collections that satisfy their style and colour direction for both UK & global contract customers.
- Creating technical packs for initial sample development and fine tuning with colourway options for production.
- Creating profiles for ordered styles on our PLMS database for orders to be raised by our merchandise department.
- Liaising with our China and Bangladesh offices, senior management, sales, garment technologists and merchandisers.
Skills Required:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a similar men’s knitwear role.
- Strong creative design skills.
- Excellent Illustrator CAD skills.
- Strong communication and experience of working with Global suppliers.
- Sound knowledge of knitting times, yarn counts and gauges.
- Commercially aware with a good eye to adapt high street trends and colour.
- Exceptionally well organised with good attention to detail.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- CV with a current portfolio.
- Shima Seiki experience would be great but not essential.
