The Company

We are looking for an Assistant Designer to join a successful clothing company and add to their busy team. You will be designing on-trend casual wear for a wide variety of high-street customers, both for the UK and International markets – liaising with Buyers and meeting briefs.

We are reaching out to a talented graduate who has a passion for men’s/boy’s ranges and who can deliver high-quality designs supporting key retailers including M&S & George. The role will involve a mixture of design and administration responsibilities, including creating design packs, sample management, and supporting fabric development, so strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail are essential.

We’re looking for someone with a creative yet commercial eye, strong awareness of current trends, and the ability to translate these into childrenswear for a mass-market customer. Ideally, the candidate will be an enthusiastic fashion design graduate with some relevant industry experience, such as a placement with a retailer or supplier.

Initially this role would be full-time office based. As you gain experience and progress within the team there may be opportunities for some remote working.

Key Elements of Role

  • Working closely with the design team to create commercial boys/menswear ranges
  • Organising the design room and preparing for meetings
  • Creation of design packs
  • Sourcing and updating new fabrics/Trims/Silhouettes/Details
  • Tracking new developments with the Factory
  • Taking notes at meetings and sending an overview to the team
  • Attending meetings/design presentations where needed and providing creative input
  • Actively contributing design ideas, research and design concepts to the design team
  • Organising the return of samples
  • Keeping up to date with key trends
  • Creative input with an excellent eye for colour

Personal Attributes or Core Competencies

  • Bachelor level degree (or equivalent) in Fashion design
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is a must and Photoshop
  • Passionate about design with a good eye for jersey products
  • Confident to share their opinion in a professional way
