Business Development Manager Events Overview

The Business Development Manager Events is a high-impact commercial role responsible for elevating TAG Events in the market.

Driving the strategic sales activity for TAG Events, with a focus on positioning and selling high-value event solutions.

This role is key to growing TAG’s presence within new client accounts and plays a pivotal part in expanding the TAG Events footprint across priority sectors.

This role has responsibility for self-generating high-quality leads, maintaining a strong and active sales pipeline, and converting opportunities into trading business, all in line with the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and business targets.

Act as a senior ambassador for TAG Events, raising brand visibility across the UK M&E market.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Be a driving force to contribute to the continued growth and success of TAG Events. Ownership of success and growth of new business.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, including lead generation, qualification, pitching, proposal writing, negotiation, and closing.
  • Develop and execute a targeted new‑business strategy focused on high‑value corporate Meetings & Events opportunities.
  • Leverage industry networks, partnerships, and market intelligence to elevate TAG’s Events proposition.
  • Lead commercial discussions and negotiate pricing and contract terms in alignment with company objectives.
  • Continuously refine and prioritise target segments
  • Achieve targets of qualified opportunities and set appointments in line with agreed KPIs.
  • Represent TAG at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and client meetings to promote brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Identify and recommend where the TAG Events’ offering can be improved to meet client-expected benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with TAG’s global sales and account management team to share potential leads and collectively support the achievement of company expansion.

Qualifications

  • Education to Degree level or higher in related field - In lieu of education – equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the corporate Events market industry
  • (preferably within a TMC client-base)
  • Extensive experience of business development within the Events industry (preferably in travel)
  • Strong understanding of company values and objectives, strategy execution and delivery
  • Demonstrated success in a similar role in a competitive industry
  • Competent user of Salesforce, and or other CRM equivalent systems
  • Proven record of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
