Summary Of Role
As a Womenswear Designer, you will lead the design and development of innovative, stylish, and performance-driven outdoor and travel collections for women. You\’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the creative direction of the range, bringing deep expertise in womenswear to deliver commercially successful products that reflect brand values, seasonal strategies, and evolving consumer needs. Your work will inspire and elevate the brand\’s offering, ensuring it resonates with our female customers who value functionality, comfort, and style.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Own the end-to-end design process across womenswear categories, from initial concept through to final product, in line with Rohan\’s customer needs.
- Develop compelling seasonal narratives, mood boards, and colour palettes that reflect current trends and brand identity.
- Lead the creation of original, trend‑relevant print designs across multiple techniques (e.g. placement, all‑over, engineered), ensuring alignment with garment silhouettes and fabrications.
- Collaborate closely with Technical teams to ensure accurate CADs, tech packs, and print specifications are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Drive innovation in fabric sourcing, design features/ constructions, and sustainable design practices, identifying opportunities to enhance product performance and aesthetic appeal.
- Attend and lead fit sessions and design reviews, providing expert input on silhouette, construction, and print placement.
- Ensure all designs meet commercial targets, including cost price, margin, and production feasibility, without compromising on quality or brand integrity.
Trend & Market Research
- Conduct in-depth trend analysis and competitor benchmarking, with a particular focus on style and print direction in the women\’s outdoor and travel market.
- Present research findings and design proposals to cross-functional teams, influencing seasonal strategy and product development.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies, materials, and techniques in both outdoor and travel garment design, applying insights to elevate the product offering.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with Channels, Merchandising, and Marketing teams to ensure cohesive storytelling across product and campaign execution.
- Manage timelines and deliverables in line with the seasonal calendar, proactively identifying and resolving risks to deadlines.
Key Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years\’ experience in womenswear design, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise across outdoor and travel wear.
- Proven ability to create commercially successful print designs that enhance garment appeal and brand identity.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabric behaviour, especially in relation to both functional and fashion designs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across teams.
- Highly organised, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally for research, development, and supplier visits.
