$205,590 salary package - includes base salary $181,324, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

The TAFE NSW Centres of Excellence bring together the Construction Centre of Excellence, the Manufacturing Centres of Excellence, and the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) Digital, a National Centre of Excellence, to support industry-led innovation, workforce development and skills excellence across priority sectors. Through partnerships with industry, government, training providers and higher education institutions, the Centres develop and deliver industry-aligned education, applied research, and innovative workforce solutions that respond to current and emerging skills needs. Leveraging contemporary learning environments, advanced technologies and strong stakeholder networks, the Centres help build the capabilities required for the jobs of today and the future.

About the Role

Join TAFE NSW and play a key role in shaping the future of construction education in NSW. As Project Manager, Special Projects, you will manage the design, delivery and evaluation of innovative construction education initiatives for the Construction Centre of Excellence, supporting small and medium-sized businesses and tradespeople to build the skills needed to meet workforce demand and deliver national housing targets. Working closely with industry, government, education providers and internal stakeholders, you will manage complex projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring solutions are practical, industry-led and aligned to emerging workforce needs. You will drive the development of new training models, partnerships and capability-building initiatives that strengthen the construction sector's capacity, improve productivity and support the delivery of quality housing outcomes across NSW. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative projects that create lasting benefits for learners, employers and the broader construction industry, while helping address one of Australia's most significant economic and social priorities. The successful candidate must have a willingness and ability to travel to the Centre of Excellence campuses as required. CoE campuses are located at Kingswood and Meadowbank.

About You

You are an experienced project management professional with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in large and dynamic environments. You bring strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, enabling you to build trusted relationships and achieve outcomes across diverse groups with differing priorities. Highly organised and solutions-focused, you are confident managing project risks, governance, resources and competing deadlines while maintaining momentum and quality outcomes. Your ability to think strategically, navigate change and collaborate effectively with others will position you for success in this rewarding role.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Degree qualification in project management/related field OR equivalent significant experience.
  • Strong experience in all phases of project management from design to implementation and evaluation within a complex service delivery environment.
  • Significant record of achievement delivering complex business focused (non-technology based) projects to achieve business or operational related objectives.
  • Demonstrated high level stakeholder management skills to positively engage and collaborate on project activities.

Highly Regarded

  • Recent experience in the construction sector, including exposure to workforce development, training, skills, innovation, or industry transformation initiatives, with the ability to translate real industry challenges into practical education and workforce solutions.
  • Experience developing and managing partnerships across industry, government, education and training sectors to deliver projects that support construction productivity, workforce capability and housing delivery outcomes.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends impacting the construction industry, including modern methods of construction, digital construction technologies, sustainability, workforce shortages, and skills requirements associated with achieving national housing targets.
