About the Role
We are looking for contract resource to support us regarding build and commissioning activities around disassembly and rebuild of a passenger vehicle which will include LV / HV battery removal and then supporting modifications required and refitment for test. The role is responsible for working along our manufacturing team on the battery test property system, providing battery systems & supporting testing as and when requested. The role includes obtaining parts from stores, building up a test property using electronic CAD provided and will require a hands-on / proactive approach to overcoming build issues based on prototype build. The Test properties typically include battery pack, module, and cell level assembly. The role demands a highly skilled individual (ideally with a prototype background), driving process efficiency, safety, and identifying design for manufacture improvements. You will be comfortable with developing relationships to work within the HV battery build and testing team and battery design team and deliver a consistent process driven solution.
Strictly follow facility procedures based on Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and any other HSE regulation.
- Prototype Build Background, able to follow and interpret basic instruction to develop a finished product
- Ability to use CAD to interpret requirements
- Liaison with cross functional teams to support build & testing requirements
- Support defining Build / Testing set ups, as per Build / Testing specification
- Problem solving capability & provide technical support to engineers
- Ability to monitor and set up testing equipment operating limits according to testing specification
- Liaison with Design teams to feedback lessons learnt from battery build and drive design and process improvement to support design for manufacture
- Support defining battery build and commissioning processes
- Perform HV battery electrical and mechanical checks during build, reworks and teardowns
- Update and maintain the Battery build documentation updated
- Battery pack preparation for End of Line testing
- Maintaining the working areas to acceptable cleanliness and organization standards
Required
- At least 5 years experience working within HVLV Battery environment within automotive
- Experience with building, testing and validating battery packs / subpacks & battery modules
- Demonstrate understanding of Battery systems & High voltage safety
- Good hands-on skills / experience, including ability to interpret CAD to obtain key dimensions, using that information to build / modify as and when required
- Experience within an engineering discipline, mechanical and/or electrical
- Strong people skills with the ability to work individually and cross functional teams
- Harness experience this would be highly desirable
