We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a full time Teaching Assistant on a 1-year fixed term contract. We are a friendly team working with children with a very wide range of SEN, the majority of whom are on a rehabilitation programme following an acquired brain injury. If you have an interest in working with a range of specialist professionals and developing your understanding of SEND then this is the role for you!

We would like to appoint an enthusiastic, versatile and dedicated Teaching Assistant to assist class teachers in the preparation and delivery of 1:1 and small group learning activities for our pupils. This is a great opportunity to learn about Special Educational Needs across a diverse cohort. We have a wide ability range, many of our students will return to mainstream schools and some will need a more specialised provision. Some experience in SEN would be desirable.

The Surrey Teaching Centre is an ‘outstanding’ medical pupil referral unit specialising in the education of children and young people with an acquired brain injury who are resident at The Children’s Trust. Ages range from 2 to 18 years with a very wide ability range. Placements range from 6 to 12 weeks on average.

We are looking for the right person, who can be sensitive to the needs of children and families at a vulnerable point in their lives, and who is enthusiastic about learning new skills.

For an informal discussion or to arrange a visit to the school, please see supporting documents for contact details.

Safeguarding Statement: Any offer of employment to this post will be subject to an enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Online checks will be made for shortlisted applicants. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school will be seeking references before any offer of employment is made. Surrey is fully committed to achieving fairness and equality in employment and seeks to achieve a workforce which reflects the diversity of the community it serves. No job applicant or employee will be treated less favourably or disadvantaged, either directly or indirectly, on the grounds of gender, gender identity, nationality or ethnic origin, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, age or any other unjustifiable reason.
