Do you have a passion for and experience with working alongside young people between the ages of 10 to 19? We are looking for a part-time youth worker to run two sessions per week at The Point, Tadley. Working hours would be Tuesday from 5.45pm to 9pm and Wednesday 5.45pm to 7.30pm, along with one Friday evening per month from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.

Information about the Post:

  • The appointment is to the Tadley & District Community Association.
  • The appointment is subject to satisfactory DBS and successful completion of a probationary period.
  • It is the responsibility of all staff to ensure that all work undertaken operates within the policies and procedures of Tadley & District Community Association.

Main Tasks as a Youth Worker:

  • Work with young people to create a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Develop positive relationships with young people.
  • Create opportunities for young people to take an interest in the local, national and global community.
  • Enable young people to explore issues that are important to them and make informed choices.
  • Ensure that young people have relevant information and support.

Programme:

  • Participate in the planning, implementation and running of programmes that meet the identified needs of young people.
  • Deliver a programme of opportunities covering the five key curriculum areas.
  • Enable young people to develop personal and social skills and high aspirations.
  • Involve young people in democracy and decision making.
  • Promote the social inclusion of young people.
  • Encourage young people in new and challenging experiences.
  • Encourage young people to lead healthy lifestyles.
  • Participate in preparation and evaluation of youth work sessions with other project staff.
  • Ensure that written evaluations are produced with identified outcomes for young people.

Performance Development:

  • Attend approved in-service training as agreed with your line manager.

Other Duties:

  • Other appropriate duties as requested by your line manager.
  • Ensure the centre is kept in a clean and safe condition, paying special attention to the end of session protocols.

Essential Requirements as a Youth Worker:

Desirable Requirements:

  • A recognised Youth work qualification or equivalent.
  • Full driving licence.

  • An understanding of the current needs of young people and the major issues they face.

Job Type: Part-time, 12 month initial contract.

Pay: Pro Rata £12.00-£15 per hour.

Expected hours: 5 per week.
